Mark Skillan, MD, is Vice President and Medical Director. He has been with MARC since 1984. Mark graduated from Lehigh University and the University of Alabama School of Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Insurance Medicine. He is an active member of the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) Medical Section, having served a number of roles on the Medical Section Board of Managers, including Section Chair in 1999–2000. He is also an active member of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM), Midwest Medical Directors Association (MMDA), and serves on the Board of Insurance Medicine. He remained active in clinical practice in long term care until 2004.

Rob Lund, MD, joined MARC in 1999 with ten years of insurance industry experience, having served as Medical Director of Canada Life’s U.S. operations. Rob graduated from Carleton College and Emory University School of Medicine. He completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Emory University Affiliated Hospitals and practiced internal medicine in Atlanta for fifteen years before joining the industry. Rob is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Insurance Medicine. He is active in the American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM), serving on the AAIM Executive Council, the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) Medical Section, the Midwest Medical Directors association (MMDA), and previously served on the Board of the Canadian Life Medical Officers Association (CLIMOA).

Bob Shepherd, MD, was previously a medical director and officer at CNA Life Re, which was acquired by MARC in January 2001. Bob joined CNA Life Re in 1996 having served as a medical director at Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company since 1989. Bob graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. He was in clinical practice for thirteen years prior to becoming an insurance medical director. Bob is board certified in Internal Medicine and Insurance Medicine. He is active in the Chicago Medical Society (CMS), American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM), American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) Medical Section, and Midwest Medical Directors Association (MMDA).

Gina Guzman, MD, joined MARC in January 2001 as a result of MARC’s acquisition of CNA Life Re, where she had briefly served as medical director. She graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago and Rush Medical College. Gina completed her residency training at Rush-Presbyterian–St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago and is board certified in both Insurance Medicine and Internal Medicine. She practiced clinical medicine for several years prior to entering insurance medicine. She is currently active in the American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM), American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) Medical Section, Midwest Medical Directors Association (MMDA), and American College of Physicians/American Society of Internal Medicine (ACP-ASIM).
