Mike has over twelve years of business experience. He first worked for five years as an Area Investment Representative. For the last seven years, he has been working in life underwriting. He began his underwriting career with a three-year stint at Allstate Life as a Life Underwriter. That was followed by a one-year stay at Zurich Kemper Life as a Team Leader – Underwriting. He joined CNA Life Re in August 1999, as a Reinsurance Underwriter, and in January 2002, he was promoted to Assistant Vice President – Underwriting for MARC’s Chicago office.

Tim Burk has worked in underwriting for over thirty years, almost all with CNA in Chicago. He has had experience with multi-life, direct, reinsurance, and underwriting policy functions. He also spent a few years as Chief Underwriter at a smaller Chicago life company. He ventured into life reinsurance in the mid-70s for about five years, then returned to reinsurance for a second stint in 1994.

Michael joined MARC in 2001 as part of the CNA Life Re acquisition. He began his insurance career in November 1979 as an Individual Life Claim Adjustor with Combined Insurance Company of America. In April 1987, he moved into the Individual Life Underwriting Department as an underwriter. Michael left Combined Insurance in May 1997 and joined CNA Life Re as a Facultative Reinsurance Underwriter. He was promoted to Assistant Secretary – Team Leader in January 2002.

Joan’s entire career in the insurance industry has been with CNA and MARC. Beginning at CNA as a Life Reissue and Conversion Correspondent, she has since held positions as Accident and Health Change Unit Supervisor, Direct Underwriting Trainee, Senior Underwriter, Life Unit Supervisor, and finally, Reinsurance Underwriting Consultant. She has experience in underwriting individuals for life, health, disability income, and long term care coverage in both individual and group operations. She has also helped train new underwriters.

David’s insurance experience began in 1988 at Allstate Life as an underwriter trainee. While at Allstate, David also managed a customer service unit and later a team of twelve direct underwriters. David joined CNA Life Re in April 1998 as a reinsurance underwriter. He was later promoted to Assistant Secretary by MARC and serves as a Life Underwriter/Team Leader in the Chicago office.

Christopher C. Bruzzini has been in his current position in underwriting since April 1998. In 2002, he earned a Master of Arts degree Sociology/Gerontology from Roosevelt University. His previous experience in the insurance industry includes underwriting at North American Company for Life and Health (NACOLAH) and Allstate Life Insurance Company.
He has earned seven industry designations: ACS (Associate, Customer Service), AIRC (Associate, Insurance Regulatory Compliance), ARA (Associate, Reinsurance Administration), and FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute) through the Life Office Management Association (LOMA); ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) and CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) from The American College; and FALU (Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting) from the Academy of Life Underwriting (ALU).

Cheryl’s entire insurance experience was with CNA Insurance, where she spent ten years as a claims adjuster before deciding to explore the other side of the equation. She underwrote individuals for life, health, disability, and long term care programs before moving to reinsurance in 2000. During her career at CNA, she was a major contributor to the development of various claims and underwriting manuals and procedures in addition to personally training a number of adjusters and underwriters.
