ATLANTA, May 24, 2002—For the second year in a row, MARC’s new life production has exceeded $100 billion. MARC reported over $110 billion in new ordinary business production in 2001 and was one of only three reinsurers to exceed the $100 billion mark. The results, based on the Survey of Reinsurance Production and In Force of the Society of Actuaries’ Reinsurance Section, place MARC among the top three reinsurers in 2001 U.S. life production. MARC’s position in new business writings has risen steadily over the past five years—from 14th in 1997, 12th in 1998, 7th in 1999, 4th in 2000, and now 3rd in 2001.

As a result of increased new business writings, MARC’s ordinary in force also experienced tremendous growth over the last five years. In 1997, MARC reported $43.8 billion of ordinary life reinsurance in force. This compares to the $382.6 billion reported in 2001—a nine-fold increase.
